Don\u2019t you find the snow\u2019s silence<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

a comfort, its white simplicity<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

shines out in the night. Note<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

how they need each other,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

the dark, the light.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

And don\u2019t we wish our loves<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

could be so simple, our fears<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

eased, our need so clear,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

how we might help\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

each other<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

toward our essence?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

As Ram Dass says, \u201cAll of us are<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

here just to walk each other home.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

But, of course, anything enduring<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

runs into trouble and needs work.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

So the question becomes:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

this beloved you\u2019re on the skids with,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

you gonna fight for them, or like<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

so many of us, walk away,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

create a story, small and tight,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

that fits your past damage,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

unexamined illusions,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

and possible confusions?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You know what may happen then?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

A generous place in your soul slips away.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Perhaps, later, you will learn one day\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

how to help love, or a larger truth,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

at least, survive.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Be careful: if you fail too many times,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

it\u2019s possible you may never truly\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

walk anyone, even yourself,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

home.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Instead, in your lonely soul,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

an enduring chill.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
